The musical version produced during the Golden Age of Children's Corner was envisioned by New Orleans theatre legend Luis Q. Barroso, with composer Fred J. Palmisano during the 1974-75 season. Though the show has been revived on several occasions since the original production, it was this revisal conceived by Edward R. Cox which serves as the quintessential version of the production for audiences and theatricians in the 21st century. The show begins with the lead player Arlecchino (Vatican Lokey) introducing his troupe of players who will present the tale of Pinocchio in the classic commedia d'ell arte style. These include Columbina, The Spirit (Carolyn Arthurs), Pantalone, The Father (Adriano Mulino), Razullo, The Fox (Griff Midkiff), Beltramo, The Cat (Robin Noel), Pedrolino, The Fool (Michael Sullivan), and Pulcinella, The Puppet-Master (Barry Marino). The part of Pinocchio, The Wooden Boy, was played by New Orleans child star Damien Midkiff.
