Camp Wanatachi is a sun-soaked hormone-charged new musical comedy about two 13 year old girls who fall in love at Christian summer Camp.
Summer camp is the perfect place for a musical and 13 is the perfect age for discovering you’re an evangelical queer. To impart the thump-thump feeling of pubescent sexual longing, deep booty bass is called upon. To communicate the magic swirliness of walking in the moonlight waiting for your prince(ess) to come, lush musical theater orchestrations are employed.
Camp Wanatachi, the concert/reading, combines hot ass/beautiful washy electronic production with classic musical theater orchestration. In addition to a cast of singing and dancing counselors and campers, there will be a mini-orchestra and a sound engineer that processes the vocals with the kind of vocoding, filters, and reverb that is heard in radio-ready pop and hip-hop production.
