Lakefront Youth Theatre Experiment was designed by Shannon R. Miller in 2009 while serving as faculty at the University of New Orleans to offer quality creative educational experiences for young people and an opportunity for area theatre professional to share their expertise through the achievement of live public performances.
Since summer of 2011 and the end of Shannon's service to UNO, Shannon has sought to develop LYTE into a proper New Orleans Youth Theatre Organization.
During the Holiday Season of 2011, Mid-City Theatre hosted LYTE's 1st independent production, A Christmas Cinderella.
