On April 14, 1865, President Lincoln was shot and mortally wounded by John Wilkes Booth while attending the comedy "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. He died the next day.

For those who stubbornly seek freedom, there can be no more urgent task than to come to understand the mechanisms and practices of indoctrination. These are easy to perceive in the totalitarian societies, much less so in the system of 'brainwashing under freedom' to which we are subjected and in which all too often we serve as unwilling instruments. -  Noam Chomsky

Yes, and so even when actors and actresses in the 19th century weren't alcoholics or libertines They could always say, "Remember, an actor shot Lincoln," and we were all tarred with the same brush.

I saw Jimmie Murphy tonight and was delighted to pass this info on to him.  He promises to be a great JWB this fall.

Just to be clear, this post was added only to mark the date.

I am also aware that "Assassins" will be on stage at Muriel's Cabaret at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre.

In no way, do I hold the views that theater people are alcoholics or libertines.

Good luck to all involved with the musical.
