Most of you probably remember the video commercials that we used to post, like:
http://www.stageclick.com/news/629.aspx
and
http://www.stageclick.com/news/553.aspx
We were doing them for free for a while to test out the process and response.
I'm wondering:
- Do you think we should bring them back?
- If so, and if you are a producer / director, would you be willing to pay for it as an advertising expense (say around $75)?
We have permission to use up to 30 seconds of in-show footage. We may have someone who can shoot / edit the videos, but it would be for pay since it is a rather time-consuming process.
We would try to get footage from a dress rehearsal and have the video up for the run of the show.
But before I pursue it any further, I just want to test whether or not people actually want it and would be willing to pay for it. One person has already asked about it - anyone else?
I guess an alternative would be to supply a way for you to post your own clips (links to youtube), but I'm not sure if anyone will actually do it.

Well, I think the overwhelming response answers my question!

I'm with Patrick...I LOVED 'em.
I thought the editing job was great, especially the first ones where interviews were included in the clips.
I think the Pajama Game one was best, very comprehensive, and I know that's when Marc was first getting the website going.
I hope it can be resurrected

First we should find out how many producers or those in the position to make marketing decisions actually read this post on the forum.

I didn't respond because I figured you wanted producers and whatnot to be the ones who posted.
Yeah, bring the videos back. They were phenomenal. I remember asking people in the dressing room for Grease, "When are they coming to do the video for Stageclick?"
Again, I'm not a top dog at a theatre paying for everything, but I think the videos were great publicity tool and should make a comeback...like Michael Jordan.
Maybe a sports reference wasn't a great idea for this Web site.

Marc, though not an advertising aspect, I brought up a topic of posting videos of original and home grown works on their respective pages. It's a thought to better document productions that were created here in NOLA and owned by the local authors, etc. and give a better taste of what the shows were like so to speak. Nothing of copyrighted works handled by any major publishing companies, etc. is considerable due to the legal issues of course. Just wondering if it's possible, even through a youtube link added to a show's profile page somehow. We have hundreds and hundreds of great original works from New Orleans talent over the years that could be enjoyed in snippets.
Here's the link to that thread... http://www.stageclick.com/topic/2581.aspx
