Goat in the Road’s annual Play/Write Showcase consists of 10 plays written by fifth and sixth grades students performed by five local theatre and dance companies: Cripple Creek Theatre Co., Dillard University Theatre, KM Dance Project, Lux et Umbra, and NEW NOISE. The Showcase is a culmination of GRP teaching artist residencies at 4 New Orleans schools, Renew Cultural Arts Academy, St. Mary’s Academy, Success Preparatory Academy, and The International School of Louisiana, during which 115 fifth and sixth grade students learn about theatre, see a professional production, and most importantly, each write their own original play.
