The tale of Boy Meets Girl and the endless complications which ensue intrigue every audience, and no musical puts it on stage better than Anything Goes. The ocean liner U.S.S. American is bound from New York to London, carrying an odd mix of passengers: a stiff English nobleman and his fiancee, a controlling American businessman and his un-controllable assistant, a lounge singer turned revivalist and her entourage of "fallen angels" -- and Public Enemy #13! On a ship where, well, "anything goes" it's a wonder that all the romances are sorted out and disaster averted.
Anything Goes had the fourth longest run of any Broadway production during the depression, and this 1962 revival incorporated more of Cole Porter's terrific music: It's De-Lovely, Friendship, I Get A Kick Out Of You, All Through The Night, Anything Goes, You're The Top, Let's Misbehave, and Blow, Gabriel, Blow.
