The sidesplitting Aristophanes comedy where there's more than one way to stimulate the economy!

The Loyola University New Orleans Department of Theatre Arts & Dance present economics and ideology with a world premiere and a fresh new version of Aristophanes' final extant comedy Wealth. Karen Rosenbecker, Assistant Professor of Classics in the Department of Languages and Cultures, translates and adapts this dark satirical comedy for a contemporary audience, directed by Artemis Preeshl.

Wealth follows the madcap antics of Inida and her girlfriends who attempt to cope with the chaos of the economic collapse in a city that is both ancient Athens and modern New Orleans. A chance encounter with the Goddess Wealth grants the women the opportunity for a dramatic reversal of fortune. Set in contemporary post-war Athens, the “have nots” are rising up to confront the “haves.”
