NOCCA Stage Company, the summer repertory theatre company of New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Theatre Arts Department, invites the public to its upcoming production of the acclaimed drama The Diary of Anne Frank. Performances run Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM, from June 7-24, in Nims Black Box Theatre on the NOCCA campus, 2800 Chartres Street, New Orleans. Directed by NOCCA faculty member and award-winning actress Janet Shea, this version of Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett’s The Diary of Anne Frank has been newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman using recently discovered writings, as well as survivor accounts. In Kesselman’s version, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, The Diary of Anne Frank captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. NOCCA Stage Company's production of The Diary of Anne Frank is supported by cast and crew members made up of NOCCA Theatre Arts Faculty and current NOCCA Drama students. This production is presented through an agreement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
Tickets to The Diary of Anne Frank are $20 general admission, $12 students and seniors, and can be reserved by calling 504-940-2875. Tickets can also be purchased at the door (subject to availability).
