"After 'The Zoo Story,'" said playwright John Guare, referring to Edward Albee's great one-act, "All of us had to write our own park bench play."
With this as inspiration and in unofficial tribute to Silk Dress Productions' Albee Project, (now in its second installment, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at the Shadowbox), Four Humours returns with another of its environmental stagings: The Park Bench Plays. The double bill is made up of Guare's own 'response play' to Albee's intense "Zoo Story," the delightful strange-love-at-first-sight comedy, The Loveliest Afternoon of the Year, plus Four Humours troupe member Katarzyna Bedrij's ferocious class-hatred-at-first-sight drama, Liquor & Bologna.
The Loveliest Afternoon of the Year is directed by Lindy Bruns, and features Blake Buchert and Kellie Gleason. Liquor & Bologna is directed by Stacie Lejeune, and features Levy Easterly and WIlliam Blake. Margeaux Fanning is production manager.
Running time of the two one-acts in less than an hour, starting at 6pm. Donations are welcome, but all performances are free. The show takes place in a small open park, on Clouet between Royal and Dauphine, that doesn't have its own address. Call 504.948.4167 for more information.
