“Women Who Kill” is written and directed with the institution of education as its centerpiece. Several issues associated with education are explored, including institutionalized responses to intelligence, racism, feminism and cultural stereotyping.
Ms. Clark, who was a scriptwriter for the Bill Cosby Show also resides in New Orleans from time to time, finds parallels between what has happened with secondary and high school education in New Orleans and New York City. As a teaching artist, Ed Bishop agrees with those parallels. Bishop believes that the heretofore destructive impact of educational systems like those in NYC and NOLA along with strong cultural and social elements, lead to discrimination and disenfranchisement of many gifted children. As such post-show talk-backs will be held to create on-going dialogue on these issues.
