Rivertown Repertory Theatre’s Imagine Theatre for Children and director C. Patrick Gendusa bring to the stage the beloved and timeless holiday classic of love and sacrifice, The Velveteen Rabbit. The play chronicles the story of the Velveteen Rabbit, given to a young boy as a Christmas present. Though the most modest toy in the nursery, the Velveteen Rabbit earns the love of a young boy and learns about the joys and pain of becoming “real.” Margery Williams’ classic book springs to magical life in this enchanting musical about love, loss and self-esteem with music by Jimmy Roberts, the composer of the smash Off-Broadway revue I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
Heart is the keyword here. The tender and gentle fable is ideal for both the young and the young at heart. A timeless tale with a warm spirit, this play is the perfect family outing for the holidays.
