The Sweetest Sounds: The Music of Richard Rodgers is a celebration of the music by one of the greatest and most influential composers of all time. Richard Rodgers had dozens of hit songs with Lorenz Hart, and then re-invented the musical theatre art form with Oscar Hammerstein. His career on Broadway spanned 60 years, with classic shows such as Boys from Syracuse, Babes in Arms, Pal Joey, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The King and I, The Sound of Music, and No Strings.
The Musical Theatre Department at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts has taken some of his greatest works and arranged them into an evening of song and dance. The show includes hit songs such as “My Favorite Things,” “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,” “Johnny One-Note,” “Falling in Love with Love,” “People Will Say We’re in Love,” and “Some Enchanted Evening,” all with fresh arrangements that make old favorites new again.
The cast of the show is entirely young performers from the NOCCA Musical Theatre Program, including alumni, recent graduates, and current students.
