Aunt Tillie Trask hates men and abhors the thought of marriage. Her niece, Pamela Marsh, is marrying Mervin Tucker. Aunt Tillie gets a call to go into town and claim an inheritance from her uncle leaving her maid, Lucinda Talbot, in charge of the household. As Tillie is upstairs packing, Mervin shows up to hide from a gang of murderous Chinamen who are after him for breaking a valuable Chinese idol he intended to purchase. Their suitcases get mixed up and Aunt Tillie leaves with Mervin's clothes. With a little help from his friend, Ronald Howland (a confirmed bachelor), Mervin winds up dressing up and impersonating Aunt Tillie. Meanwhile Pamela and her friend, Lizzie Parsons (a know-it-all novelist) show up at the house upset that Mervin didn't show for the wedding...as well as Charlie, a Chinese cook (or is he??) and Ronald's boss, Mr. Lorrimer, who informs Ronald that he must get married immediately if he is to accept a huge promotion and transfer to the company's China office. Soon Ellen Neeland, a determined woman of mystery, shows up demanding to see Mervin, thereby convincing Pamela and Lizzie that she must be Mervin's new love. Rounding out the fun are Mervin's Aunt Tillie Tucker, and Dr. Hattie Bing, a chiropractor that comes to give Aunt Tillie (Mervin) a much-needed "treatment." The show is family friendly, loaded with fun and surprises, and, of course, all ends happily.
