WITH A BANG, or "Blown Away" as it's known to its friends, is a ridiculously absurd, terrifyingly comedic, epic mess of a show. A crude fairy tale in spirit, the play centers on Margaret Chaplin, an unemployed depressive, who gets the news that her father has been beaten to death by "some friends". More disturbing than this news, however, is the fact that Margaret's father was already supposed to be dead. As the play rollercoasters its way from beginning to end, Margaret is confronted by a series of severely self-destructive strangers and one very awkward "Messenger" as she struggles to understand what her father has left behind and what it might mean for her future. Written to be performed at almost breakneck speed, the play's shifting pace and story deliberately defy any and all expectations, while the show's prevalent sense of humor ensures that the ride is entertaining as well as exhilarating.
