Originally the longest-running musical in history, this production by the Artists' Cooperative Theatre (ACT) was presented at the Fine Arts Center starring several of the city's best-known theatre stars: Stocker Fontelieu, Peter Gabb, Wayne Daigrepont, and Vatican Lokey (Producer/Director/"El Gallo" Roland "Butch" Caire's self-professed 'dream cast'). A critical and audience success, this production of "The Fantasticks" is the story of two simple country fathers (Daigrepont & Lokey) and their children Matt & Luisa (Michael Santora & Ariel Assaf), who have fallen in love with each other as per their fathers' plans with the theatrially wily El Gallo (Caire). With the assistance of The Actor (the legendary Stocker Fontelieu), his assistant Mortimer (Jeff Riddick), and the eponymous Mute (the also-legendary character actor Peter Gabb). Several romances, storylines, and character evolutions happen within the short space of the play, with a moving 'denoument.' A classic for the ages, and for New Orleans theatre.
Directed & produced by Roland "Butch" Caire.
