As befits the presentation of a first-rank storyteller, The Voodoo is unembarassed to admit that it doesn't know a damn thing of what Gusman/Hurt is about. ("About 45 minutes." With no intermission.) "I tell a story where it seems that I'm explaining why I'm not going to do something that's usually done in stories of that sort, only to find at the end I've done it anyway while the audience thinks I'm doing something else," Fitzmorris explains, paraphrasedly speaking. We know Gusman/Hurt involves New Orleans politics and culture. We know it involves pain. More than enough.
The Voodoo is especially thrilled that Jim Fitzmorris has agreed to keep his gala opening, slightly adjusted, in this first post-Gustav week. We'll probably lay in some hors d'oeuvres, even.
