Part of Lakeland Community Theater's Children's Theater Series, Bugsy Malone Jr. is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the 1920’s gangster film follows the story of Fat Sam, who runs one of the most popular clubs in town and who is in danger of being closed down by his rival Dandy Dan, until baby-faced Bugsy Malone arrives. Bugsy has also caught the eye of Sam’s girlfriend Tallulah, although he has set his designs on showgirl Blousey Brown. The special “junior” version of the musical includes a child’s dream come true: a non-violent gang war fought with “splurge blasters” which spew forth silly string. The musical touches on issues in American history - from bullies and gangsters to reasons for prohibition to anti-violence messages.
Fun for the whole family.
