The Fall of the House of Usher

The Fall of the House of Usher

City Lit Theater    8/17/2007 - 8/19/2007 (schedule)

Category:  Thriller · World Premiere · Professional

A young woman stands before the audience and challenges them to view the story of The Fall of the House of Usher. Although it is a story that we all know, she admits, we are not told the real story. She then leads us through the classic tale by Edgar Allen Poe, but soon we realize that we are not to believe everything that Poe’s narrator would tell us. This young woman is the personification of the Madeline Usher, whose death plunged her brother Roderick into madness and destroys the house, and we are seeing how she has been marginalized in the telling of the story. However, in the end, the story we know wins out because the weigh of history has lent credence to it thereby making it fact.
