My People is a very short play, but it is funny, thoughful, and poignant. My People takes place at the service window of a small restaurant. The dialogue is between a reformed gang member, now working as a cook in a restaurant, and an artist working as a server in that restaurant. There is both humor and poignancy in the dialogue as the two main characters explain to each other what "my people" means to them.
