Ivan is a doctoral candidate in the Program for Writers at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has studied playwriting with Lisa Rosenthal and Marlene Streeruwitz. His adaptation of Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher was named prizewinner in City Lit Theater's Art of Adaptation Festival (2007). He has short fiction in a variety of journals, print and online, and anthologies. He was a finalist for The Southeast Review's World’s Best Short Short Story Contest as well as the Calvino Prize. He serves as president of the board of Promethean Theatre Ensemble and is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
